Watching the boats go out, not yet convinced the trip is worth it.
AI plays a small part in your work, if any, and you’re in no hurry to change that. Maybe the results haven’t impressed you, maybe your work hasn’t made room for it. You’re not against AI; it simply hasn’t earned a real place in your day yet.

Shore Watchers are often the most experienced people in the room. They’ve seen tools come and go, and they know that most promises of productivity end in another login and another tab. So they wait, and watch what happens to the boats that go out first.
That scepticism is useful: it asks what AI is actually for. The risk is that the gap grows quietly. While you wait, colleagues who started with small, boring tasks are compounding a habit, and each level they climb multiplies what they can do.
